As I Mature

As I mature
I LEARN that it takes time to build trust and that it only takes
suspicion, not proof, to destroy it.
I LEARN that whatever "hits the fan" will not be evenly distributed.
I LEARN that depression is merely anger without enthusiasm.
I LEARN that we learn when it's just too late, Hmm , , , ironic?!
I LEARN that what happens to me is less significant than what happens within me.
I LEARN that life is ten percent of what happens and ninety percent of attitude.
I LEARN that you cannot make someone love you, if it's not there, it just isn't.
I LEARN fate, our destiny has already been determined for us, we are given a
few paths to take, but our fate is the result to that unknown.
I LEARN that it's not what you wear, it's underneath that matters.
I LEARN not to sweat the petty stuff and not to pet the sweaty stuff.
I LEARN that the achievers see a solution in every problem and the failures
see a problem in every solution.
Hmmm . . . ever think about which one you are?
I LEARN that age is a high price to pay for maturity,
so you have been around the block . . . well, there is always
someone before you that has ran a marathon.
I LEARN that actions speak louder than words spilled from the tongue.
Watch what "they" do, don't listen to what "they" say.
I LEARN that you must be true to your words because they will follow you.
I LEARN that you have to be happy inside and like yourself before you
expect anyone else to.
I LEARN that love is more than a feeling, it is a decision to care, believe, support,
and commit through the good and bad times,
our tests come through the bad, we are so quick to give up when the bad tests
our commitment, but isn't that what it is? . . . FOR BETTER OR WORSE
I LEARN to always smile, you never know when someone may be looking
and needs that inspirational sight.
I LEARN that when I am crying on the inside, I am still smiling on the outside.
I LEARN I can't change you nor can you change me, we are who we are.
I LEARN "one day" usually turns into no day.
I LEARN to just go with the flow, it is what it is.
I LEARN to choose my battles.
I LEARN there are two special gifts we can give our children,
one is roots and the other is wings.
I LEARN if you don't feed it, it doesn't grow., this is for the good and bad.
I LEARN that through every negative lies a positive.
I LEARN that with every hello and goodbye I gain experience and wisdom.
I LEARN there is no blinder man than one who refuses to see.
I LEARN we have total control over one thing in life, our attitude.
I LEARN if it is to be, it is up to me.
I LEARN that a bend in the road is not the end of the road
unless you fail to make the turn.
I LEARN never take away any ones hope, that may be all they have.
I LEARN age is a matter of mind, if you don't mind it doesn't matter.
I LEARN to dance like no one is watching and love like it's never gonna hurt.
I LEARN that it is only until you are healed from your past
and accepting of your present that your future will unfold.
I LEARN A wise man will keep his mind open and his eyes opened even wider.
He talks less and listens more, sometimes it's in the silence we find wisdom.
I LEARN just when you have come to the edge of all the light you have
known and you are about to step off into darkness of the unknown,
faith is knowing one of two things, there will be something solid to stand on
or you will be taught to fly.
I LEARN to treasure each precious moment we are given, yesterday is history
tomorrow is yet a mystery, today is a gift, hmmm . . .
that's why it's called the present.
I LEARN it's not what your doing it's who your doing it with, hmm . . .
I found myself wishing there where twenty-five hours rather than twenty-four
hours in that day.
I LEARN God speaks to us in many different ways,
be still and look all around you.
I LEARN this too shall pass.
I LEARN we can give without loving but we can not love without giving,
when I love, I give my heart unconditionally.
I LEARN each day we are born anew,
today is the beginning of the rest of your life.
I LEARN he who wants A rose must respect the thorn.
I LEARN there are no shortcuts to any place worth going.
I LEARN worry is like paying interest on money not borrowed.
I LEARN if God brings me to it he will see me through it.
I LEARN the best place to find a helping hand is at the end
of your own arm.
I LEARN it is not in the holding on that makes strength,
sometimes it is in the letting go.
I LEARN never let a problem become an excuse.
I LEARN experience gives the test first then the lesson after,
if you sleep during the lesson the same test you will keep taking.
I LEARN my challenges have made me love harder,
smile bigger, laugh harder and live fuller.
I LEARN good looks catch the eye but a genuine realness
about one's soul catches the heart.
I LEARN I am not perfect nor is he,
but what matters is if we are perfect for each other.
I LEARN failure is not in the falling down but in the staying down.
I LEARN A person who removes a mountain begins by carrying away small stones.
I LEARN to keep enemies as best friends.
I LEARN that truly, the strong survive and the weak die.
I LEARN never let a chance pass you up, your name could be engraved on it.
I LEARN never let feelings go unspoken, especially to our loved ones,
when they are gone they will not hear you.
I LEARN that you really can fly, just close your eyes,
free your mind spread your wings and let it go.
I LEARN that besides your mother,
God is your best friend, thank him for all he gives and for all he takes too.
I LEARN that what we want may not be what we need.
I LEARN that God has his chosen times for you,
so just trust, let go and let God.
I LEARN that we were never promised a tomorrow
so make the most of your today, LIVE LOVE LAUGH.
I LEARN that with each new breath I am given and decide to take,

I learn . . .

Nicole Laskero-Monroe from Chicago,
Illinois wriote when submitting her poem:

"Hello. I am a 30 year old female.
I have a passion for insightfulness,
spirituality and my own created philosophies
about life. I feel it is a gift.

"When I was diagnosed with a very rare
and progressive type of breast cancer,
this inner insightfulness became
more intense and a passion of mine.

"As I was home sick due to my diagnosis,
I really became in touch with my soul
and spirit and life. The result was
this poem I created called, "As I Mature."

"I hope it reaches those who are in
need of inspiration, hope or guidance
through every day life trials.

"Thank you for letting me share my
innermost thoughts."
