The Unfriendly Road

When I sit staring
At a road I know I’ll never be taking,
Fate, cruel fate pushes me further to wander into the unknown
And to get lost
On a road far away from home
And I yearn sometimes to turn around and go back
But somehow I venture on
Hoping I’ll reach somewhere
Where I can be safe
I venture on hoping
To find peace that can ease my soul
I walk in the dark unsure of each step
And I hear someone murmur into my ear
That I’ll be lost forever in the unknown
Who it is I cannot see
Yet I venture on forward
My eyes welled up with tears
My mind filled with memories of a happy life
That just disappeared one night
And somehow I feel safe trusting the unknown
Because a lost soul couldn’t have found a better road
